Shortlisted: Imperial’s ‘Creative I’ is nominated for a Brand Impact Award.

Achievements

Our work for Imperial College London has made the Brand Impact Awards shortlist, in the Education category. From more than 200 entries, 41 projects made the cut. We're honoured to find out ours is one of them.

Imperial asked us to build a brand architecture that could hold together twenty-plus departments across three faculties, from Infectious Disease to Civil and Environmental Engineering. The answer was the Creative I: a distinct motif for every department, each one recognisably part of the whole, with room to grow as the university does. You can see the full story in the case study.

The Brand Impact Awards matter to us because of how they judge. Founded by Nick Carson and now in their thirteenth year, they assess work sector by sector, so a university identity is measured against its peers, not a drinks can. The criteria are simple: a strong idea, consistent craft, and work that stands above its market. This year’s panel includes people from JKR, Wolff Olins, Pearlfisher and Taxi Studio.

This one was a team effort. Thank you to everyone at Imperial for their trust and patience throughout, and to everyone at the studio who made it happen.

Winners are announced on 22 September. Whatever happens, we’re proud of this one. The full shortlist is worth a look, and fellow nominees include Design Bridge & Partners, NOT Wieden+Kennedy, Johnson Banks and Magpie Studio.
